A KTPB with an upper voltage of 35 kV is regarded as a structure whose construction and installation are carried out in each case on the basis of a project and site adaptation prepared by a design organisation.

A KTPB consists of the following main elements:power transformers;

  • line voltage-regulating transformers;
  • main LV distribution board: 35 kV;
  • outdoor metal-clad switchgear (hereinafter – KRUN) or indoor
  • switchgear (hereinafter – ZRU) for 10(6) kV;
  • rigid and flexible busbar systems;
  • cable structures;
  • substation control building (hereinafter – OPU);
  • lighting devices;
  • foundations;
  • lightning protection;
  • earthing;
  • fencing.

Note 1 – In switchgear (RU) for all voltages, the use of current transformers whose thermal and electrodynamic withstand differs from that of the units and blocks (cells) of the switchgear is permitted.

The climatic version and placement category of the KTPB with regard to the influence of external climatic factors correspond to versions U and UHL category 1, atmosphere type II according to GOST 15150, GOST 15543.1, while:

  • for version U1 the ambient air temperature is not lower than minus 450 С;
  • for version UHL1 the ambient air temperature is not lower than minus 600 С;
  • the upper value of the ambient air temperature is not higher than plus 400 С, for versions U and UHL1.

The installation altitude of the KTPB above sea level is up to 1000 m.

The maximum standard wind pressure is 12 N/m (600 Pa) at a height of up to 10 m above the ground surface, with a recurrence of once every 10 years.

The ice wall thickness at a height of 10 m above the ground surface is no more than 30 mm, with a recurrence of once every 10 years.

The environment is non-explosive and does not contain conductive dust, aggressive gases or vapours that destroy metal and insulation.

Atmosphere type II according to GOST 15150.

With regard to the influence of external mechanical factors, the KTPB corresponds to operating conditions group M1 according to GOST 17516.1.

The seismic resistance of the KTPB is up to 9 points on the MSK-64 scale at a level of 0 – 10 m.

KTPBs may, if ordered, contain noise-protection means, which allows them to be used within the city.

With regard to heating during long-term operation in normal mode at rated current, the elements of the KTPB satisfy the requirements of GOST 8024 and DSTU IEC 61238-1-3:2019.

All blocks (cells) of the KTPB have devices for transportation and movement by lifting mechanisms.

The blocks (cells) of the KTPB have sufficient mechanical strength, ensuring normal operating and transportation conditions without deformations or damage that would impede their normal operation.

The category of external insulation of the KTPB electrical equipment is in accordance with the requirements of SOU-N MEV 40.1-00013741:2014.

The electrical strength of the insulation of the main and auxiliary circuits of the KTPB meets the requirements of GOST 1516.3.

The design of the KTPB provides for the installation at the substations of power transformers (autotransformers) with bushings and devices located on the tank cover, in accordance with the requirements of DSTU 2105, DSTU 2104, DSTU 2103.

Rigid and flexible busbar systems are used in the KTPB. The rigid busbar system is used in the main LV distribution board and in the indoor switchgear. The flexible busbar system is used for short jumpers and taps, and for connecting transformer inputs.

The busbar system of the main LV distribution board is made of aluminium alloy tubes 19150 ST1-2-70 according to GOST 18482, GOST 18475, arranged in one or two tiers, and of steel-aluminium wire.

Reliability indicators:

  • service life of the KTPB before the first medium repair – at least 6 years;
  • service life of the KTPB before write-off – at least 30 years (provided that components with a service life of less than 30 years are replaced).

The range of KTPBs for a voltage of 35 kV was developed on the basis of SOU-N EE 20.178-2008 “Schematic electrical diagrams of switchgear with a voltage from 6 kV to 750 kV of electrical substations”.

KTPBs for a voltage of 35 kV comply with the requirements of TU U 27.1-40132794-004:2017.

    A BKTP is a block-type packaged substation whose enclosure is made of high-strength reinforced concrete (or insulated sandwich panels). Unlike metal "kiosks", it has a significantly longer service life (over 25-50 years), better thermal insulation (the equipment does not overheat in summer and does not freeze in winter) and a more aesthetic appearance for urban development.

    Yes, the concrete enclosure provides excellent sound insulation from the transformer's operation and also localises possible faults inside the block. This makes the BKTP the safest solution for installation in residential areas, parks and near public buildings.

    This is a two-transformer substation consisting of two connected blocks. It provides higher reliability (category II power supply): if one transformer fails or is under maintenance, the entire load is automatically switched to the second one.
