Metering input boxes (YaVU)
Purpose of the YaVU:
Metering input boxes (YaVU) are packaged low-voltage distribution devices designed for receiving, commercial metering and line protection in 0.4 kV networks (230/400 V) of three-phase or single-phase AC at a frequency of 50 Hz with a solidly earthed neutral. The YaVU is installed at the power supply input of industrial, public, municipal and residential facilities.
Structurally, the box is a single-side-service enclosure made of metal (powder-coated steel) or modified plastic (PC/ABS). Inside it houses: an input circuit breaker, a space for the electricity meter (direct or transformer connection), distribution circuit breakers on the outgoing lines, PEN/N/PE terminals, and sealing lugs for the metering compartment.
Reference designation structure:

Standards and types:
- DSTU EN 61439-1:2014 — Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. Part 1. General rules.
- DSTU EN 61439-3:2014 — Part 3. Distribution boards intended to be operated by ordinary persons (DBO).
- DSTU EN 60529:2018 — Degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP code).
- TU U 27.1-40132794-003:2016 — manufacturer’s technical specifications.
LK Energy YaVU boxes have been manufactured since 2015, in two main types: YaVU-1 (single-phase, 230 V) and YaVU-3 (three-phase, 400 V). Versions: for municipal needs, private consumers, public and industrial facilities. Protection rating — IP31 for indoor premises and IP54 for outdoor installation.
Typical YaVU electrical diagram:

The diagram is shown for the basic YaVU-3 version with direct connection of the meter. Composition:
- QF1 — input circuit breaker (three poles for YaVU-3, rating selected according to the design current)
- PI — electronic active-energy meter (1-ph or 3-ph, direct connection up to 100 A or transformer connection via CTs)
- QF2…QFn — circuit breakers on the outgoing lines (quantity and ratings — per the technical specification)
- XT — PEN/N/PE terminal set with a sealing lug on the metering compartment
For transformer connection, the diagram additionally includes three current transformers (CTs) with ratios of 100/5, 200/5, 400/5, 600/5 or 1000/5 — depending on the design current. A detailed schematic diagram for the specific version is attached to the product data sheet.

*At IP54 the rated current is reduced by 15% relative to the values rated for IP31, due to limited heat dissipation through the sealed enclosure.
*Approximate dimensions, weight and configuration. Final parameters are agreed at the questionnaire stage. Custom versions — per the Customer’s technical specification.
Standard YaVU configuration:
- input circuit breaker for the design current;
- a space for a direct- or transformer-connection electricity meter (DIN rail or mounting panel);
- circuit breakers on the outgoing lines;
- PEN/N/PE terminal block with a sealing lug;
- a set of sealing lugs for the metering compartment;
- mounting loops / brackets for surface mounting.
Options on request:
- current transformers (CTs) 100/5…1000/5 for indirect connection of the meter;
- surge protective devices (SPD) of class I+II;
- service socket 230 V in a separate compartment;
- heating of the metering compartment for outdoor installation (-45…-25 °C);
- LED lighting of the compartment with a door switch;
- enclosure colour — RAL 7035 (light grey) as standard, other RAL — on request.
Electricity meters:
The box is supplied without a meter. The model is determined by the technical conditions of your DSO (regional power company). All installed meters must be certified in Ukraine and entered in the DSO register.
Lead times and warranty:
Typical manufacturing time — 5-7 working days for series models, up to 14 days for custom versions*. Warranty period — 24 months from the date of commissioning*.
*Approximate lead times and conditions. The exact lead time and warranty are specified in the supply contract.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A YaVU is a packaged low-voltage distribution device per DSTU EN 61439-3:2014. Unlike a simple box with a meter, the YaVU performs three functions: intake from the DSO (input), commercial metering (meter + sealing of the compartment in line with the regional power company's requirements), protection of lines against overloads and short circuits. It is supplied as an integral factory product with technical specifications, a certificate and a test report.
Two options: direct connection (the meter is in the power circuit, up to 100 A — private houses, small commercial facilities) and transformer connection (via CTs with ratios of 100/5, 200/5, 400/5, 600/5, 1000/5 — for higher currents). The specific model is determined by the DSO's technical conditions.
Yes — for facade mounting, the IP54 version per DSTU EN 60529:2018 with climatic design UHL2 (-45…+40 °C) is ordered. Protection against dust and water splashes from any direction. For cold regions — optional internal heating of the metering compartment at temperatures below -25 °C.
Yes. Each YaVU leaves the factory with a set of documents: product data sheet, certificate of conformity (DSTU EN 61439-3:2014), acceptance test report, installation and operation manual. Additionally — TU U 27.1-40132794-003:2016.
